ATA laptop hard disk drives (HDD) are slowly going extinct. The main reason for this to happen is the age of the IDE interface, developed a long time ago (~20 years ago). The ATA, IDE, EIDE or PATA (parallel ATA) interface requires very wide cables with 40 wires or 80 wires for high speed data transfers....
