Scary Computer Pranks
I don’t like pranks. In spite of the fact that I do have a very good sense of humor, I have never appreciated a prank, even though some are considered to be actually funny. Maybe it is because I like predicable things, and pranks are not by definition. Maybe I don’t like surprises, which is another problem.
Thing is pranks are not my favorite. There are a lot of people though who appreciate them. Regular pranks catch people off guard many times, and that seems to amuse them, although it scares the living hell out of them. Computers couldn’t avoid pranks. Not when you can perform pranks that are so well done. Pranking computer geeks invented software programs that surprise users and scare them. They are potentially harmless, and are made for self-amusement too. The victims of these pranks are people who don’t employ security precautions on their computers, and are almost ignorant of programming basics.
There are pranks that are not meant to be funny. Some of these little programs are intended to induce viruses or spyware. They may damage our email account or even the program that generates them. So, not all the pranks are funny. They make us laugh while they destroy our machines. There is a computer prank that is called “scare face”. It reminds us of a famous movie, but the face that appears on the computer is far different from that of the movie. This face appears on the computer screen and stays there for a few moments, or for a few minutes, depending on the settings. It goes like this. You activate this little program, then you invite a friend or a co-worker to give you a hand with something you’re working on. The scary face acts like a little bomb. When it goes off, your colleague will have his/her share of the scary face. To make sure it creates the expected reaction, choose a scary face that screams at the user.
“Spot the difference” is a more intellectual prank. It consists in sending someone on the email a message that contains two pictures that are perfectly identical. In the mail you ask the person you send the mail to to detect a few differences between the two images. It is like a quiz test. The recipient of your email may spend days in front of the computer trying to determine how smart they are and how many differences they can spot.
Online test prank refers to detecting the accuracy of the hearing sense. You lure your victim into taking the test, assuring them that the volume level is not too high and the sounds are soft. When you ask them to increase the sound volume, you place a horrific screech on the headphones. It will scare the wits out of everybody. It cannot fail.
Click and watch is a prank that creates a bridge to the illegal pranks. This prank sends you a message that informs you the hard drive is destroyed. It will definitely ruin your day. Are you not entertained?

You’re right, these pranks are not at all funny. A friend of mine showed me that spot the difference prank. He called me in front of his computer and showed me 2 identical pictures of a kitchen and told me to pay close attention and see if I could spot the difference because he had spent a solid 20 minutes in front of those pictures and could not figure out what was the difference. He left to make us both some coffee and I hadn’t noticed the speakers were turned to max volume. As I couldn’t see the difference I kept getting closer and closer to the monitor as it was become annoying not to see any differences and then a scary woman appeared right in the middle of the display, screaming as if all ell has broken loose. It was super frightening and I started screaming too. Of course I was pissed off and told my friend he was lucky I enjoy horror movies because if we were to pull this prank on someone he didn’t know so well, that poor person could have had a heart attacks. These pranks are a definite no-no.
