Oh there is a lot to discuss as far as computer ethics are concerned. I had my computer hacked once… I think I must have downloaded and installed some faulty software and gave someone access to my computer. That stranger started to randomly delete files from my computer, just for fun. Those files were very important to me as I had Excel sheets with the financial situation of my working place as well as important PowerPoint presentation for my company.

I agree with what you said. It is difficult to say which is the best computer because if you eventually manage to answer that question, in 6 months the answer will be false as another amazing gaming computer will be launched on the market. This is why I always prefer computers over laptops when it comes to gaming. Every time a new components is released on the market and it’s better than what I have inside my unit, I can easily upgrade, while laptop components are generally more expensive.

In January, I went to bed and put on a movie to see before bed time because this is my ritual every night before going to sleep. While I was enjoying my movie, the window of my player closed. I was thinking not to put the movie again because I was really sleepy and simply wanted to close my eyes. When I did, I started here that windows alert, you know, the one when you delete a file from your computer? My mouse was moving around and someone has hacked into my computer and started deleting all the files on my hard drive. The first thing that came to my mind was to unplug the internet cable and so I did and it all stopped. Next day, I saved all my important files and formatted my entire hard drive. I am not sure what happened, I just know someone got into my computer and started deleting my files. I was terrified because I keep a lot of school projects stored in there!

I honestly never understood why people were so nuts about Apple laptops. my best friend bought one from the United States when she went on vacation and I thought it was simply not worth paying $1500 for that laptop. it only has one USB port and since she used an external mouse she was left with no USB port, one microphone jack and that was about it. I mean you could not even plug the internet jack in there. If she didn’t have a wireless router at home, she couldn’t use the internet. I found that to be a very stupid move. Not to mention there was no DVD drive and an integrated video card.

Toshiba products are always of good quality. I never used or owned a Toshiba laptop or product that ever got damaged too early. I have been using the same Toshiba laptop for the 4th consecutive year and except for the webcam that broke down 1 year ago, I never had any trouble with my unit. It was quite cheap (I paid $650 back in 2006) and I never imagined it would last this long without giving me any trouble. I read about scandals with HP laptops which came with mass damage but this never happened with Toshiba products.

Computer backup saved my life more than once. I have a laptop that was starting to give me some trouble with a virus I couldn’t get rid of and I was planning a full format in about 30 days time. Even so, I decided to make backup copies of all my important documents and I stored information on DVDs. 2 days later, the laptop would not log onto Windows anymore. You cannot imagine how relieved I was because when I took my laptop to a friend of mine who is this computer guru, he said he would not have been able to retrieve data from my hard drive and I would have lost everything!

You’re right, these pranks are not at all funny. A friend of mine showed me that spot the difference prank. He called me in front of his computer and showed me 2 identical pictures of a kitchen and told me to pay close attention and see if I could spot the difference because he had spent a solid 20 minutes in front of those pictures and could not figure out what was the difference. He left to make us both some coffee and I hadn’t noticed the speakers were turned to max volume. As I couldn’t see the difference I kept getting closer and closer to the monitor as it was become annoying not to see any differences and then a scary woman appeared right in the middle of the display, screaming as if all ell has broken loose. It was super frightening and I started screaming too. Of course I was pissed off and told my friend he was lucky I enjoy horror movies because if we were to pull this prank on someone he didn’t know so well, that poor person could have had a heart attacks. These pranks are a definite no-no.

Thanks for the useful information. I just bought 2 new laptops for me and my husband and had no idea what I should do with my old computers. Aside from still having use of the keyboard and mouse, I doubt it that any store or service or dealer could use the components because our computers are really old and have been used heavily for the past years as both me and my husbands are accountant and we kept our PCs turned on day and night. It’s good to heard about these recycling programs because I would have really dumped them in the trash bin otherwise.
