Batteries For DELL Laptop Computers

Dell is one of the top personal computer manufacturers today. While most Dell computers have a unique stylish design, their prices refuse to go as high as Apple computers. Compared to Apple, one of the most resistant manufacturers to new hardware, Dell is always adopting new hardware components as they appear on the market, without adding too much to the price of previous models that the new one is meant to replace.

Amongst other specialties, Dell also made one of the biggest laptops ever designed, with a 20.1” wide screen (16:10 aspect ratio) 1680 x 1050 resolution screen and Radeon Mobility X1800 graphics card it was a very good portable workstation when is was launched a few years ago, but even today thanks to it’s Core 2 Duo processor should have no problem in dealing with games and demanding software.

Batteries for dell laptop computers can be bought on-line from the official Dell website, there is still support for models released as far as five years ago. For older laptop models you may have the only option to refurbish your old battery, changing the old cells with brand new ones available in most laptop repair shops.

The cheapest battery for dell laptop computers (available at Dell.com) costs $50, and it’s compatible with Dell Studio 1457 and 1458.

Depending on the configuration, this 56Watt-hour 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery may last up to 3-4 hours on one charge.

The second cheapest battery for Dell laptops costs $69 and offers the same amount of power as the first, 56Watt-hours. It’s compatible with Dell Vostro 3400/3500/3700 laptops and offers “reliable power for dependable performance”, according to the marketing slogan. As strange as it may seem, there are no photos of it available on the official Dell site, nor elsewhere on the Internet. For the above mentioned Dell XPS M2010 laptop there are still batteries available. With an $80 price tag, the third cheapest battery for Dell laptops is for the M2010′s detachable keyboard. 14Watt-hour is the maximum capacity of this little two-cell battery, but it’s enough for all modules inside the detachable keyboard.

Next on the list is a 28Watt-hour battery for the latest Dell netbooks, Inspiron 1012 and Inspiron Mini 10 (1012). With a 3-cell design based on Lithium-Ion technology it costs $80 on the official Dell website.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is a somewhat more powerful ultra portable laptop, with an impressive 1280 x 800 resolution screen. With an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 60GB 4200RPM low power hard drive and integrated Intel GMA 900 graphics it manages to squeeze out more than 5 hours of battery-powered productivity with the 6-cell battery. The fourth cheapest battery on our list is he 3-cell battery for this laptop, which makes it run only about 2-3 hours on one charge.

It costs $80, but for those who don’t intend to use the laptop a lot on the road it makes perfect sense to purchase, rather than the more expensive 6-cell battery that costs at least $135.
