Ati Hd 5700 Series Video Card

The ATI Radeon HD 5700 series video cards are the cheapest solutions for DirectX gaming at high frame rates and good graphics quality. The best performance/price prize without a doubt goes to the Radeon 5550 and 5670 video cards, but they don't really have enough processing power in order to give you a taste of high-end gaming.

ATI's Radeon HD 5750 video card features 720 stream processors with GDDR5 memory, addressed through a 128bit memory bus. It requires just one additional 6-pin power cable that means another 75Watts, but you should know that the card doesn't really use that much energy, maybe something under 100Watts total. This means that it can be installed in most systems with a PCI-Express 16X slot and a 300-400Watt (REAL!) power supply, while installing slightly faster Radeon 5800 series video cards almost always requires a power supply upgrade too (to at least 600Watts PEAK). The manufacturer published a list of certified power supplies, but if the rest of the system doesn't need much power, than even weaker power supplies can be used.

The ATI Radeon 5770 video card features 800 stream processors, which means a higher power consumption level, even though only one additional 6-pin power cable is needed. Users who have tested this card in gaming computers, have reported ~320Watt total system power consumption at full load (423Watts with two such cards installed). This means an additional investment in at least a 600Watt power supply

In 3DMark Vantage the ATI Radeon HD 5770 video card obtained 10311/8705 points (3DMark Vantage GPU score/ Vantage P score), very close to the ATI Radeon 4870 model, but much faster than the ATI Radeon HD 4770 video card.

Although ATI Radeon HD 5700 series video cards are a generation behind, they still offer great DirectX 11 gaming experience for a reasonable price. Newegg.com sell these cards for $119, at the same price as the Radeon 6770 models, but please note that the Radeon 5770 card is faster.
